Romania cleared to buy $2.5 billion worth of Abrams tanks

The United States Department of State has approved a potential $2.53 billion arms sale to Romania, which includes 54 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Main Battle Tanks, four M88A2 HERCULES Combat Recovery Vehicles, four M1110 Joint Assault Bridges, and a variety of support equipment. The sale is still subject to congressional approval, but it is expected to be finalized. General Dynamics Land Systems will be the prime contractor for the sale.
