Design & Analysis Ltd
Design Development Experts

Established in 2003, Design and Analysis Ltd has over 20 years’ experience in developing vehicles and equipment for the defence industry.

Our modelling and drafting capability is experienced in both BAE Systems and Rolls Royce procedures.

We take pride in delivering the highest quality in mechanical design, ensuring solutions are right first time, taking the care expected with important details such as tolerancing, welding, availability and manufacturability.

Our team of highly skilled Chartered Mechanical Engineers bring over 80 years of experience from a wide range of industries offering a plethora of possible design solutions, material applications and manufacturing methods.

Specialised in design validation using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques, kinematic simulation and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Over the last 10 years we have developed the capability to simulate landmine blasts to STANAG 4569/AEP-55.  This has now progressed to simulating air and underwater blast events and includes simulation of ballistic impacts into a variety of materials including armour and composites.

We support development projects from concept to manufacture, including specifying in field testing and post test data processing.

For existing vehicles and equipment we provide support with obsolescence management and in-service failures by reverse engineering using 3D scanning and crack investigations, including fracture mechanics.

Typical work undertaken includes:

  • Vehicle suspension development including kinematic assessments.
  • Shock and vibration assessments.
  • Underbelly blast protection development.
  • Vehicle roll over assessments.
  • Interior equipment development, such as ammunition racks and electrical housings.
  • Driver and passenger seat development including injury assessment to AEP-55 using fully validated FEA versions of the Humanetics crash test dummies (Hybrid III MIL-LX).
  • Special-to-role equipment, such as excavator arms, front loader systems, route marker systems and load platforms.
  • General vehicle body structures, including crash analysis and fatigue life assessments.
  • Assessment of military recovery, lifting and tiedown features.
