The ShieldLITE fibre optic security system is desigend for monitoring Intrusion Detection or as a trigger for Emergency shut down systems. ShieldLITE incorporates a highly reflective optical Access Switch that requires no power.  The Access Switch has been granted a European patent, EP3881028.

In the closed position, the Access Switch is highly efficient at reflecting light back down the optical fibre. In the open position the Access Switch reduces reflections to extremely low levels. The resulting in a change in power levels indicates an event occurrence. The access switch can detect remote events up to 80km away.

In combination with the ShieldLITE Monitoring Equipment (a 19-inch 1U unit) multiple switches can be installed to run over existing optical fibre infrastructure to protect and manage remote network assets and the data being transmitted.

In addition to an alarm system, ShieldLITE provides remote control over fibre optic cable and is ideal for remote shut down systems, network isolation and remote access and monitoring.

Intrusion detection is not limited to military applications as increasingly utility companies look to protect their pipelines, ducting and area fencing. Fibre optics sensors require no local power provision, are discrete and remain unaffected by any external electromagnetic radiation.
