Knight Optical can provide spherical and aspheric germanium lenses for applications such as thermal imaging and CO2 lasers. Germanium lenses have a low optical dispersion, due to its high refractive index, and therefore display minimal chromatic aberration which is ideal in imaging applications. 

Our custom germanium lenses can be manufactured to diameters of 300mm or more, but also down small dimensions of less than 10mm. An antireflective (AR) coating can be applied to one or both surfaces to increase the transmission in the specified range, whilst a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating can be applied to a surface to enhance its durability, which is ideal if this surface will be exposed. 

All optics are checked and verified in our metrology and QA departments to ensure they meet their specifications prior to shipment to the customer.
