GNOME Fuel Computer MK1A

Atec Engineering Solutions

The fuel control system for the Westland Sea King Helicopter provide a means of controlling the throttle valve of the engine during the start and run up to minimum pitch on ground (MPOG) and then maintain the helicopter rotor speed selected by the pilot, irrespective of the continuously changing loads, within certain parameters.

The Gnome Fuel Computer MK1A consists of three sub-systems; Throttle Positioning Loop, Power Turbine Speed Loop and Engine Protection Loop. These sub-systems combined, perform the primary function of the control system.

In the Gnome Fuel Computer, there is also a Safety circuit, which monitors the various input control signals and computer power supplies and if the Safety circuit is trigger by failure in the system, this would automatically freeze or lock the Throttle Actuator.
