RMX-RAY Gamma Cameras
Radiation is invisible, with no touch, smell or taste; therefore, it cannot be detected easily. IPL developed the RMX-RAY Gamma Camera range; these systems allow users to locate gamma radiation in real-time visually. The radiation information is overlaid on an optical camera. Signals from an array of high-energy-radiation sensors are coupled with geometrically opposed shadows. IPL's specially designed algorithms utilise the information, eliminating background radiation and revealing the source of radioactivity and the isotope. The RMX-RAYs provide an image/video of a large area showing where radiation hot spots are located and the type of radiation emitted. The systems speed up identifying radioactive contamination (thus saving money) while also reducing the exposure of radiation workers and saving lives in the process.
