In order to remain cost effective, AWL has a range of resource types from Word Processers to Chartered Engineer Senior Technical Authors. The team is supported by Technical Illustrators with experience in Raster and Vector image creation/manipulation and Computer Aided Design.

The team have experience in sourcing and interrogating high volumes of source data. Where source data may not always be available, Authors can spend time onsite with client engineers to produce technical manuals that capture the required processes and procedures to ensure the technical information produced is accurate and safe.

As every project is different, the AWL Technical Authoring team use a variety of software dependent on the requirement and can advise on the most appropriate solution for the target audience. As such, the team are well versed in various software and systems including the Microsoft Office suite, XML, Common Source Databases (CSBD) Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Framemaker.

In support of UK MOD and  UK Defence contractors, AWL have produced documentation spanning across Army Equipment Support Publications (AESPs), Air Publications (APs) and Books of Reference (BRs), Damage Control Documentation (DC Docs) and S1000D. For example, AWL currently hold the Handbook Management Contract managing, maintaining and creating the entire suite of Maritime technical documentation used by Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The team working on contracts such as this produce a wide range of manuals from communications to weapons systems.

AWL can support the update and maintenance of technical documentation in line with the client’s own product support or Post Design Services requirements. AWL work to establish sustainable and efficient processes with clients to process Urgent and Routine updates to technical documentation, enable clients to meet KPIs and support their end users with safe and reliable documentation.
